Who may apply?


Our Summer Program is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen individual English skills as well as explore and deepen knowledge of mind-enriching topics in Technology, Arts, Sciences and Sports. Our English as a second language curriculum focuses on all four language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing with particular emphasis on day-to-day communications used when interacting with professors, fellow students, friends, vendors and the general media. We welcome applications from girls and boys between the age of 8 and 18 from all over the world!
What sessions do you offer?

We offer 6 weekly sesions (Please make plans to arrive and depart on a Sunday.)

Students are required to register for a minimum of two consecutive weeks and may register for all six weeks.
What are the student-to-teacher and student-to-counselor ratios?
We have a team of instructors and counselors who are eager to support the growth of the student and ensure they feel at home. The English classes have 8 to 12 students per teacher to provide numerous opportunities for small group work and individual attention from enthusiastic, highly-trained and experienced instructor. The student-to-staff ratio is 10:1. Our counselors are made up of incredibly responsible and talented people who have experience and training in leadership, team building, conflict resolution, first aid and have talents to share in art, music, athletics, technology and more. Every person on staff is committed to giving students the most positive, safe, fun and inspiring experience at International Ivy. What is a typical week and day like?
Monday – Friday:
  • 7:30 – 9:00 Wake up / Breakfast
  • 9:00 – 12:30 English Language Classes (snack and breaks included)
  • 12:30 – 1:30 Lunch
  • 1:30 – 5:00 Enrichment class (e.g. Robotics, Hip-Hop Dancing; snack and breaks included)
  • 5:00 – 6:30 Dinner/Free time
  • 6:30 – 8:30 Evening Activities (e.g. ice cream social, board games, movies)
  • 8:30 – 9:30 Personal time / Lights out

Saturday: Day Trip (e.g. Hershey Chocolate World, Sciences in New York City)
Sunday: Arriving, Departing, Day Trips, Getting to know each other activities
What should I wear? Dress is always casual and summers in New Jersey can be hot and humid so shorts, sneakers or sandals, and lightweight shirts are encouraged. Don’t forget your swimsuit!
What should I bring to the program? Clothes
  • 8-10 pairs of socks and underwear
  • 8 tops
  • 3 or 4 pairs of shorts and 1 or 2 pairs of long pants
  • 1 light jacket
  • 1 or 2 pairs of sneakers and/ or 1 pair of sandals
  • Personal Items
    • Alarm clock
    • Pillow/ sheets/ bed linen (twin size)/ blanket (optional)
    • Toiletries (shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, comb, bath towel, shower slippers)
    • Laundry bag

    IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO BRING cell phones, CD players, ipods, or video games (These items will be confiscated and held during the program to prevent loss, theft or breakage.)
    What extra charges can we expect?
    The suggested spending money is at least $50 USD per week for incidental expenses, laundry, snacks, and souvenirs.
    What is dorm life like?
    The students live in doubles, triples or quads based on the size of the room. Boys and girls are on separate floors. There are at least two adults on duty each night.
    What is the food like?
    There are three hearty meals with snacks in between. Sample breakfast includes pancakes, sausages, eggs, and cinnamon rolls. Sample lunch includes chicken nuggets, turkey sandwiches, salads, vegetables. Sample dinner includes burgers, veggies, and fruits.
    Food allergies?
    If your child has a food allergy, please let us know as soon as possible so we can alert our program’s head chef to ensure appropriate alternatives are available.
    What about medication/doctor?
    All medication will be administered by Program faculty. Please indicate if your child requires any medications on the enrollment form. Students can do their own laundry; laundry services are also provided by a third-party vendor for a nominal fee.
    Can we call home? Email?
    There are dormitory phones and computers available for internet service. Students may bring a cell phone with them, but please know that cell phones cannot be with them during your camp day. Free time in the evening is the best time to get in touch with friends and family.
    What if I get homesick?
    Most of the time people are having too much fun at camp to get homesick, but every once in a while someone just feels sad about missing their family. We know how to help. Your counselors and friends will give support, and we will be in touch with parents to make sure students get everything they need. The Summer Program keeps the student very busy and occupied with learning and having fun.
    How can parents observe the program?
    Here at International Ivy, we are proud to present a unique Mom’s Program. We welcome Moms who want to accompany their child for part or the entirety of her child’s stay. From shopping at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets to spending a day at the Spa and Salon, to touring the Statue of Liberty, you too can improve your English by attending one of our ESL classes designed especially for adults.
    Do you have a cancellation policy?
    • Payment is due in full on May 1, 2012.
    • The deposit at enrollment is non- refundable.
    • Day ONE of program, 80% refund of tuition.
    • Day TWO of program or later, no refunds.
    If your child is unable to attend the program for whatever reason, but has paid in full, please contact us immediately. Prior to beginning of the Program, all funds, excluding the deposit, is fully refundable OR all funds, including the deposit, is applied to the following year’s participation in the Summer Program.
    Will I earn grades in my courses?
    Written assessments of each student’s performance will be sent via email to parents at the end of the Summer Program. No letter or numerical grade is assigned to a student’s achievement. If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate and email info@Internationalivy.com.
